Anger is a natural emotion that everyone experiences sometimes. However, when it starts to feel like the anger is in control of you instead of your being in control of it, it can become a difficult and overwhelming emotion to manage. At LLCS, you will learn practical ways to manage your anger in a healthy and effective way. We work together to help you develop greater emotional regulation skills and create a life where anger is not in control.
What is Anger? Anger is a strong feeling of displeasure, frustration, or upset that arises from a perceived injustice, hurt, or threat to well being. It can manifest itself in many ways from mild to intense and be expressed internally or externally through behaviours such as shouting, shutting down emotionally, or physical aggression. If not managed in a healthy way, it can become destructive in nature which can lead to unhealthy relationships, poor self-care, conflicts, and hurt to self and others.
The Lifelong Living Approach: We use an Integrative and Client-Based approach, tailoring the techniques to fit the client’s specific needs. Techniques are drawn from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Therapy to learn skills to regulate the heat of anger. During sessions, we work together to identify the sources and triggers of the anger and develop effective communication skills to help the client better express emotions in a constructive, healthy way.
